I won't worry.

The title is my response to what somebody just said in a cartoon my mom and Z are watching. So, anyway. Z got sick on Saturday, and now everyone else is as well. I caught the sickness first though 'cause Z slept with me and coughed his life out on my face. Speaking of Z sleeping with me... well, every time after we read our surahs together, he performs ruqyah on himself, and then on me. One time I felt sheepish that I just lay there all the time when he performed ruqyah on me, and so I did it to him. Guess what he said? "Ah! I already did it to you!" Generous child, is he not? I made a hot milk cake with wheat flour yesterday (and I didn't burn myself! :D) and it turned out pretty awesome. Mum took some today to Bayyinah and gave some to her classmates. Today after Quran class, I showed my burn scar to my friend Na and she screamed. Then she told me to show it to Asg, and basically everyone else. Lol. Then Na's sister Znb told me that she's been havi...

Baffled

Texas weather is like my brother - spontaneous, annoying, changing too much. Well, I guess I can't say that because Allah controls the weather. Anyway, we haven't had any snow yet, and it's almost February!! I am disappointed! In New Mexico there is profuse snow!! Byn, Rwn's sister, sent me pictures of them playing in the snow and added, "we wished u were there." Wonderful people, yes? Well, not Mar. 'Cause Mar is a totally different person. >:3 My brother Z is a master at chess. I have never won a chess or checkers game in my life... well, I won once, but I was lucky. Today, we had blunderful pancakes with too much chocolate chips in them. I made the first half, and then S took over because I was failing. S told me not to burn myself again. Did I tell you guys about my third-degree burn? Okay, to be seriously serious, it's nothing more than a first-degree burn where the flesh turns a nasty brown and underneath is pretty-in-pink flesh. So, on ...

Bobby Pins

I had to delete a post I realized I'd written a few days ago that I wasn't able to finish because of some chores... e_e Anyway, the party at Quran class was... well, hey, expect the unexpected. Why am I writing a blog post right now!! I have English to do!!!!! I'll check back in an hour. Oh my, it's been more than an hour. Anyway, I've completed two English assignments, and right now I'm doing vocabulary. Soooo, I'll check back in maybe 45 minutes. Turns out I finished in less than 45 minutes, despite the distractions around here. Z's watching Curious George. (CURIOUS GEORGE IS SOOO CUTE!!! AND HILARIOUS!! <3) Anyway, as I was saying. The party at Quran class was very strange, 'cause we only had cake (made by moi) and chips, which two sisters brought. We practiced our surahs for about thirty minutes, until Sis Hya called me up to serve the cake, after Na served the chips. S went up to recite her surah, and the rest of us crunched on chips ...

Ramadan We Missed You Heaps

On Thursday in Quran class, we asked our teacher if we could have another party. She said we could. I plan to bring cake. 'Cause cake is life. I'm so excited for tomorrow! Last night at the sister session, we talked about passions, and what we want to do when we're older. I paired up with a girl with a name similar to mine. Her name means two lights, and mine means light. So, anyways, she is very talkative and passionate about how much she wants to be an artist. She told me she once wrote a story that filled a whole notebook (which is really impressive, I've never done that.) but she threw it away because she thought it was silly. TBH, it had a really good plot, and with a few adjustments, it would be a masterpiece. After discussing future careers, we played the picnic game, which is where everyone sits in a circle, and one person starts off by saying they'll bring something that begins with the letter A. Then the next person says what the first person is bringi...

Algebra II

Did I mention anywhere what was my New Year's resolution? No? Well, it was this. "My New Year's resolution is to not doodle in my math book anymore." Easy to accomplish, right? Nope. I'm still extracting my overflowing mind onto paper. It's SO HARD!! WHY?! Life's hard. Literally. You need to work and work to break through life's hard, annoying shell to succeed. For now, you're gaining progress. Everyone is. That's explicitly the reason behind this blog's name. As for me, well, I am so not gaining any progress in my algebra II. Why would I ever need to use polynomial division in life? If it actually exists in real life, I'm sure I would never take a job that requires knowledge of polynomial division, or anything from algebra II for that matter. I could learn all the maths there are in existence, but never master any of them. Math just isn't my thing. My mom isn't good with math, and she's my MOM! Basically, all ...

Don't Know

I really want a camera right now. I used to snap pictures and film videos every day. I hear strange explosion sounds outside and they're scaring me. I hope we're all safe. I mean, they sound like authentic gunshots. Allah please protect me! Then again, they could be that trash truck. Still, Allah protect me. :D On Sunday, I attended a meeting at the masjid that's about 10 minutes away from our area. Other than my sister and I, there were two other attendees. The norm amount ranges from 15-20 girls, but for some reason, they all felt like staying at home. After an exciting meeting about exciting events, we ended early and left for home. About an hour later, my sister and I had karate. As usual, we entered the place early. Sometimes I enjoy how our family insists on being punctual, but other times I find it annoying. The good thing is, I feel proud of it most of the time. Anyhow, the karate place filled up quickly. We practiced the usual - punches, kicks, blocks. Despit...

Safety

Nobody questioned me about the peculiar color of the chicken. Though, as we were eating, I couldn't help but stare at how green it was compared to the interior. The good thing was, nobody noticed. Anyway, I find it annoying when the rest of my body is cold, while all the heat is hogged by my armpits. What makes it get so hot in there so easily? It is most likely the fact that that area is the only part in my body where there is a crease, or fold, so the heat is trapped. Additionally, my arms move more than the rest of my body does, so there's a lot of friction going on. That awkward moment when you don't know what rak'ah of the prayer you're on and neither does anybody else. This happens a lot in Qur'an class when we pray Asr. Everyone always gets messed up on the third rak'ah. It's hilarious. (Although we ought to be ashamed of ourselves, lol.) Yesterday, I made another hot milk cake, which was a success. It rose, and tasted so light, fluffy, and ...

From the Nose

My chore was to cook chicken. It's very spicy and, due to a secret ingredient I will let loose to only one soul, is very green. Fret not, for at least it is cooked. While my chicken was cooking on low heat, I contemplated on whether to bake something or not. I looked up 'baking recipe using milk' and I found a great recipe on hot milk cake. I was elated after reading through the ingredients and the directions. Leaping off the computer chair, I yelled, "I'm crazy! I'm gonna make this cake!" and set off for the kitchen. In the process of making the cake I had a teensy problem that could have killed me, but thankfully I knew how to deal with stoves and burns and whatnot. No, there was no fire, and I didn't get burned. What really happened, I will save for my baking blog. At lunch, I told the one soul what the secret ingredient was. Her reaction was priceless. I laughed uncontrollably. After washing my plate, I had a glass of milk. I stood as I drank it,...

Footsteps

My mother's partly-famous blog motivated me to sprout another life blog. I decided to do one, for a few reasons: I miss writing about my life, and I tend to forget about my book diary tucked safely in my desk shelf. Writing regularly about my life also strengthens my skills in writing, and those skills I have to work on for my future career as a successful author. I don't write for comments here, like I do in my other blogs. Here I write for practice, to document events, to remember incidents. Welcome to Progression. I can't believe it's 2015. All the years are slowly dropping out from the future, one by one, gradually, until the world ends. Speaking of the end of the world, I experienced mini earthquakes yesterday. Apparently there were four, but I felt only two. Boy, were they scary! When my mother came home and looked it up, I saw a video in one of her results with a photo that said, "16th earthquake since November 2014." Impressive! I didn't even fee...
