Foolin' Around

Well, tomorrow's April. Anyone got a prank or two up their sleeves? I, for one, have a slight idea of what I want to do, especially since I'm going to see my squad tomorrow. I don't usually play pranks on people, but when I do, I make sure the situation is appropriate. But we all know that it isn't nice to prank people. Especially if the prank terrifies the organs out of them. Hey, I'm not bossing anyone around. I myself am guilty. I recall a few years back, we had a blackout on a hot summer night. It was about a day after July 4th. Dad and H were at the masjid. Little Bro Z was in the bathroom showering. I was watching funny videos on one computer with Mum. S was using the other computer. All of a sudden, our screens go black. The computers shut down. The only light left is the moonlight shining through the giant windows in our living room. My first instinct was to press my back up to the chair I was sitting on. My next worry was Z, in the dark bathroom all by ...

Blog Updates!

I know I should be giving you a long, heartfelt post about my latest occurrences and mess-ups and - oh! spring break - but in order to do that I really need to have a peaceful day when I don't feel guilty about anything. Yes, I do feel guilty quite often nowadays. But it's not the type of guilty one feels after doing something wrong. It's the type of guilty one feels for doing nothing. I'd had a beautiful story-writing spree a couple of weeks ago, but now I just can't find the time or mood to update my book. Additionally, I'm dealing with dreadful writer's block. Anyhow, finals are coming up in school. We wrote midterm essays in English class about a fortnight ago. Tomorrow in speech class I'm giving a demonstration speech on how to make hot milk cake. I'm "excited," according to my teacher. She doesn't like the word "nervous," so she tries to lift our spirits by saying we are excited. Anyway, where was I? Oh, let me ela...

Refugees, Weird Weather, and a Busted Thumb

Ughhhhhh something is wrong with me. I'm always yawning, even in the daytime. I've been drinking water to help myself feel awake, but it didn't work. I think I have some sort of weird case of excessive fatigue. And it may have to do with my diet. I'm doing everything else right. My diet is probably the answer. I cannot remember the last time I felt like I was feeding off of energy. I GOOGLED MY SYMPTOMS! And apparently, I either have a sleeping disorder called sleep apnea, or I'm suffering from depression. It seems more likely that I'm suffering from depression, because the only sleeping disorder I suffer from is insomnia. I feel like I need to see a therapist because all the sources I found told me I had to go to the doctor. THE DOCTOR IS YOUR ONLY SOLUTION. SATURDAY, 20 FEBRUARY 2016 Our local masjid was hosting a day providing food for refugees. My contribution to the event was a volunteer. S and I went at 10 am and began setting up the multipurpose ...

So Many Days

Let's just say a lot of things have been happening recently. Someone got his driving permit on his birthday. Someone got his yellow belt. I gave a speech in class last week. It was a self-concept speech, so basically, I talked about myself. And woohoo! To make the assignment fun, the teacher had us bring in five objects and talk about how they represent a part of our personalities. I brought five strange items: a spatula, pencil, toy cat, bracelet, and pair of earrings. Don't ask, I'm not gonna tell. My final grade out of 50 was 53. Yaaas :D I never explained the gruesome title in the last post. Our first essay of the semester was to write a story about a murder mystery, using five mandatory facts: [Name of the victim] Mark Smith Murdered [Date and time of murder] June 6th, 2010, 10:37 p.m. [Area of murder] Parking garage Multiple stab wounds I got my paper back today with a grade of 87. I do have the chance to revise.  Ermahgerd. So, for English...

Multiple Stab Wounds

My belly feels like a witch's cauldron filled to the top with icky green goo and large, glossy bubbles. That is what citrus does to you. You want constipation? Eat a lot of Cuties! (The tangerines, not the people.) Anyway, my brain for some reason thought I didn't post anything since 2015. When I opened this blog and saw that the last post was on January 10, 2016, I was like whaaaat ? And then it all slowly came back to me: I'd made that HUGE post on Pre- and Post-2016 Events. Ah-ha! So here's what happened since the last time I posted..... ~ I was going to talk about my backpack for school, but then I remembered I'd already done that.... Well, the day before school (January 20), we all had brunch at SA's house. My brother H and SA's sister MA weren't able to attend because H had developed a random and inconvenient headache, and MA was at school. Nr and her family were there as well. We're all homeschooling families, but I feel like we're...

A Post With Yet Another Random And Meaningless Title

I've been up since about 6:30 am. And I want to go back to bed. But I can't do one thing at a time. I like to multitask. Correction: I have to multitask. I'm saying I don't want to go back to bed and just lie there. I just have to do my writing, while eating, while talking to a friend(s), while doing other various things. Anyways, here's the story of today. (January 9, 2016) After Fajr prayer, I lay in bed under the sweltering warmth of two fleece blankets and a comforter. However, I didn't go back to sleep. As the sun rose and the room slowly but surely brightened, my sister S squirmed and fidgeted in her own bed across the room, emitting the breathing sounds of a sleepy person who of yet does not want to leave her bed. The alarm on her phone then blared away, and my ears cringed under the annoying beeping sounds until she turned it off. After a minute or two, she rolled out of her bed, making the mattress creak as its burden was lifted. She left o...

Someday I Actually Will Hurt Myself

Image
Do you know how I'm constantly burning myself, cutting my fingers, or busting my toes? It's not out of emotional pain. It doesn't even happen on purpose. I'm just the most clumsy person ever born. I'm not even joking. Yesterday, I was opening the oven to take my chicken out of the oven. After ripping off the aluminum foil and poking the chicken with a fork, I for some reason which I can't remember at the moment touched the oven door. The scorching, burning, searing oven door. My poor ring finger was first-degree burnt! I had to place it on an ice pack while eating dinner, which kinda made it hurt all the more. H told me to just leave it and it would heal faster, but I didn't believe him. Later, when I didn't want to haul around the ice pack anymore, I forgot about my burn because it didn't hurt anymore. So I suppose H was right. UPDATE: During a halaqa at the masjid, I was looking at my hand and saw that the burn on my finger had scarred into this d...
